Julian Edelman fires up Patriots fans with tweet after TE signing spree

2 min read

Remember when Julian Edelman was going to flee to Tampa to join Gronk and Tom Brady, leaving the New England Patriots sad, depressed and bereft of talent?

What was all that trash whining about?

Clearly, Bill Belichick preferred the alternative: sign every top free agent, welcome back a ton of defensive opt-outs, and set the team up for success yet again in 2021, with Edelman very likely on board.

Two days before NFL free agency had even officially opened, Belichick set the tone for the upcoming season, and Edelman joined him, riling up a fan base ready for revenge.

First came Jonnu Smith, fresh off establishing himself as a weapon with the Tennessee Titans, on a top-of-the-line deal to shore up the tight end position, which was as weak as it’d ever been in New England last year.

Then, Tuesday, came the cherry on top: the other top tight end on the market, Hunter Henry!

As Patriots fans everywhere luxuriated in visions of the most expensive and effective two-tight-end set in league history, Edelman proved with one tweet that he was visualizing this humming offense right alongside them.

Patriots WR Julian Edelman is ready for the two-TE set to come back.

Yes, the Boston TE Party, an offensive system so ingenious it could’ve been crafted by Bill Belichick’s trusty dog.

Thus far, New England’s been the biggest — well, only — spender during the legal tampering period leading up to the start of free agency, and something tells us they aren’t done yet.

That “something” is every single NFL insider telling us they aren’t done yet.

This year more than any other, the cap has been a complete mystery, and the Patriots entered this offseason with an overload of space anyway. That’s been a recipe for profit, and it’s got Pats Nation drooling about even more big-ticket additions on offense.

Curtis Samuel? JuJu? Kenny Golladay? Deshaun Watson? The sky’s the limit.

If you weren’t sure when this week began that the New England Patriots had a future, we hope that worry has been officially quieted.

So much for the entire league flocking to join Brady’s retirement party, huh?
