New York Giants attended TCU Pro Day in person

2 min read

The New York Giants were among the 32 NFL teams that attended the pro day held on the campus of TCU in Fort Worth, Texas on Friday.

The two top prospects scouts and coaches came to see are at a position many believe the Giants are set at — safety. Trevon Moehrig-Woodard and Ar’Darius Washington have both been gaining notoriety as the draft approaches. Moehrig is almost certain by many draft experts to be a first round selection while Washington could be a Day 2-early Day 3 selection.

Moehrig ran a 4.5 40-yard dash operating at what he called “80 percent,” stating he was dealing with a back injury.

Washington, only 5-foot-8 but “plays bigger,” ran the 40 in the low 4.6 range but had a vertical jump of 37.5 inches.

“When you turn on the tape, he’s one of the most instinctive safeties that you’ll find,” Bucky Brooks of the NFL Network said. “Ball skills, awareness, anticipation, timing, toughness — he has it all.”

The Giants aren’t likely to select either player in the draft because they already have one of the league’s top safety duos in Jabrill Peppers and Logan Ryan. Last year, they selected Alabama’s Xavier McKinney in the second round of the draft and also have Julian Love on their roster.

Peppers is entering the final year of his rookie contract however, and the Giants’ long-term plans for him have not been stated although many believe as part of the Odell Beckham Jr. trade and his recent performance, the team will come to a agreement with him.
